Natural diamonds
Natural diamonds,
chosen with Gavin.
Ruschin & Co sells natural, mined diamonds only, with GIA grading. Choose a loose stone, or have one chosen for a piece Gavin designs with you and that is made in the workshop in Illovo.

Loose stones and stones set into a piece
Gavin has more than 20 years' experience. Whether you want a stone on its own or a finished piece, he is your one point of contact from the first conversation.
- Loose natural diamonds, for you to have set or to keep.
- Natural diamonds chosen for a piece Gavin designs with you, such as an engagement ring, a wedding band or an eternity ring.
- Help reading a grading report, so you know what the report records and what it does not tell you.
How Gavin helps you choose
Choosing a diamond is easier once you know what each grade is telling you. This is the short version, and Gavin takes you through it before you choose.
- Cut: how well the diamond is proportioned decides how it handles light. It does more work than colour, clarity or carat, so it deserves most of your attention.
- Colour: the grade for how much colour a white diamond shows.
- Clarity: the grade for the small features inside and on the surface of a stone.
- Carat: the weight of the stone. It is one part of how a diamond looks and what it costs, not the whole picture.
- The grading report: it records a stone's shape, measurements, weight, colour, clarity, polish, symmetry and fluorescence, and a cut grade for round stones. It does not replace seeing the stone.

Questions
Natural diamonds, answered.
Are all your diamonds natural?
Yes. Ruschin & Co sells natural, mined diamonds only, whether the stone is sold loose or set into a piece. Gavin designs each piece with you, and it is made in Ruschin & Co's own workshop in Illovo by expert designers and craftspeople. Natural is the only kind of diamond Ruschin & Co sells, so you can choose a stone knowing that.
Do you sell loose diamonds?
Yes. Loose natural diamonds are sold at Ruschin & Co, as well as stones set into pieces that Gavin designs with you. Book a consultation, in person at the studio or by video call, and tell Gavin what you are looking for, even if the brief is still half formed.
What does GIA-graded mean?
GIA is a diamond grading laboratory. A GIA grading report records a diamond's measurements and its grades for colour, clarity and cut where a cut grade applies. Ruschin & Co sells GIA-graded natural diamonds, and Gavin takes you through the report for the stone you are considering.
How much does a one carat diamond cost?
There is no single figure, because the price depends on cut, colour and clarity together as well as weight. Gavin talks you through natural diamonds and what they cost at the start, so you can see where a stone is worth paying for and where it is not.
Can I see a diamond before I decide?
Consultations are private and by appointment at 25 Rudd Road, Illovo, so you can talk through your stone with Gavin in person. If you prefer, begin with a video call on Teams, Google Meet or Zoom and come in once you know what you want to see.
