The Wedding Guide is the part of the Journal that deals with places and people rather than ideas. It covers thirty categories, from venues, planners and photographers to Kosher and Halaal caterers, transport, accommodation, security and childcare, and for each one it explains what the service is, how to choose well, what to ask and what usually goes wrong in a contract.
It is not a directory that lists everyone who pays to be listed. A venue or professional appears here only after its facts have been checked against its own published information, given a verification date and labelled with the basis on which it appears. Where a category has no verified listing yet, the page says so plainly and the guidance stands on its own.
Gavin Ruschin is a jeweller, not a wedding planner, and the guide does not pretend otherwise. What he brings is twenty years of watching what happens between a proposal and a wedding, and the working relationships that come from making the ring at the centre of it. Where he has worked alongside a business and is willing to put his name to it, the listing says so. Where he has not, it says that too.
